XL361
The only Vulcan in Canada is XL361. It was abruptly retired there in 1981 after a serious incident in flight that grounded the aircraft. Instead of repairing it, the RAF decided to use it as a gate guardian at Goose Bay as the fleet was only a few years from retirement. In 1982 it was gifted to the neighbouring town on the conditions that it is displayed with dignity in RAF colours. The airframe appears to be in fair condition, but its long term future is not secure.
