XJ824

One of a handful of Vulcans which has the luxury of a roof over its wings is the Imperial War Museum's Vulcan B2 XJ824. This Vulcan was delivered to the museum in March 1982 by none other than Martin Withers, who in about a month would be flying another Vulcan halfway across the South Atlantic to the Falkland Islands, but that's a story for another survivor entry. This Vulcan was  kept outside until 2005 but has also spent a considerable portion of its retirement inside so it is in remarkably good condition. The cockpit is occasionally accessible, but the IWM will charge £45 for a tour, whether you want to pay this or see another museum's Vulcan cockpit is up to you. There are plenty of angles to view this Vulcan from, a popular one being from the stairs of the Concorde, but a lot are obscured by parts of other aircraft.
